Our Story
Bombay Delight started with two people who shared a common passion: taste that connects.
Over thirty years ago, Amit came to Germany from India. Life felt new and exciting – and yet he missed something that was inextricably linked to home for him: the chai his mother freshly prepared every day.
A chai, as it is not simply known as "uniform" in India.
Because there, every family has its own recipe, its own way of roasting, grinding, and cooking spices. Chai is tradition – passed down from generation to generation, refined by experience, shaped by love and time. And it was precisely this taste that Amit missed in Germany.
Tradition, reimagined
The traditional chai recipe, with its complex, time-consuming preparation, has been carefully adapted to today's needs. The result is authentic chai with a full flavor – prepared in seconds.
Soon after he arrived here, he met Lara – German-Japanese, shaped by a culture where quality, mindfulness, and attention to detail play a significant role. From her mother, she learned that good food isn't just prepared – it's made for people you love.
Together, they quickly realized: More than just their cultures connected them.
They share the same attitude – not to bring anything to market that they aren't one hundred percent convinced of.
And so, Amit and Lara developed the Mango Lassi together early on, which they brought to German supermarkets. A product that showed:
When both combine their perspectives, something new, authentic, and relevant emerges.
But one thing never let Amit go: In Germany, there was no chai that even remotely came close to the taste of his childhood. Chai Latte became popular – but for him, that had little to do with real chai culture.
But this 45-minute ritual rarely fits into the German daily routine.
And for Amit, chai – especially after a meal – was simply part of it.
He wanted a chai that would accompany him everywhere without losing its origins.
And so, Amit and Lara began to translate the family recipe from Amit's childhood so that it is accessible today – without compromising on taste, quality, or authenticity.
The result is Bombay Delight:
A chai that honors Indian tradition,
embodies the Japanese-influenced love of detail
and fits into modern everyday life.
No chai latte.
No compromise.
But chai as it's meant to be – full of flavor, an invitation to pause, to share, and to enjoy.
And it is precisely this invitation that Amit and Lara are now bringing to Germany.
